It was a very exciting day for everyone. Students arrived at 9:00, registered and received their CJMEA Honors Orchestra Shirts to wear for the performance. The day was filled with practice, hard work and time to make new friends. Students were placed in ensembles of 100+ performers from around Central New Jersey. All of the students from 17 different schools worked together to rehearse and put on an amazing concert at the end of the day. What great teamwork! The students and Mrs. Kershner had an amazing experience. They are looking forward to doing it again in the future.

LIS Honor Music Students
On Saturday, March 29th, 2014, students from LIS, along with their director, went to Woodbridge HS in Woodbridge, NJ, to participate in a 1 day orchestra festival. These students were nominated by their director, Mrs. Allison Kershner, based on their performance in the LIS Orchestra. Once nominated, students were selected and placed into one of 2 orchestras – the” Philharmonic Orchestra” and the “Symphony Orchestra”. Students received acceptance letters and music a few weeks before the festival so they had time to practice. Four of our students played the violin in the Philharmonic Orchestra. Eleven of our students played in the Symphony Orchestra (2 violins, 3 violas, 5 cellos & 1 double bass).
