Flu Prevention

It's flu season, and if you watch the news, you know that lots of people in New Jersey are getting sick. Here at LIS, our school nurses, Mrs. Traina and Mrs. Lalli, are working hard to make sure everyone knows how to stay healthy and stop the flu (and other illnesses) from spreading.

Promote a strong immune system: get a good night's sleep, exercise regularly,
and choose a healthy diet.

Protect yourself against germs: wash your hands regularly (for at least 20 seconds),
stay away from people who are sick, and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Prevent the spread of germs: cover your nose and mouth (with a tissue or your sleeve) when you cough or sneeze and stay home if you are sick!

Stay healthy, LIS!

Chicks at LIS!

Quiver Farms brought us twelve fertilized eggs and an incubator on January 22. On January 28, Egg #11 was the first to hatch. Sadly, Egg #10 never hatched. Via the live "chick cam" in the library, students were able to see and hear eleven energetic chicks on their classroom tv sets.

Before the chicks returned to the farm on Friday, February 1, they went on a field trip to some of our classrooms.
