On Thursday, October 16, our 5th grade students spent some time with Dr. Jamie Buchanan-Dunlop. He specializes in Arctic and Coral Reef research.
Last year, Mr. Brennan's class had the opportunity to Skype with Dr. Buchanan-Dunlop. Those students, now in 6th grade, were also invited to the assembly to meet him in person.
Dr. Buchanan-Dunlop showed students some pictures and videos from his time in the Arctic, and they had to opportunity to ask a few questions. Later in the day, Dr. Buchanan-Dunlop visited four 5th grade classrooms to talk about his climate change research. Those four classes are looking forward to presenting this information to the rest of their 5th grade classmates.
At the end of the day, Dr. Buchanan-Dunlop provided some professional development for interested teachers. Thanks to Mr. Brennan for coordinating these meetings.
