Community Service in Action

Monday, January 21, is when the nation remembers Martin Luther King, Jr. The MLK Day of Service is part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. You can check out local service projects or visit the official MLKDay.gov website to register a service project of your own.

Throughout the month of January, the LIS community is participating in two community service projects to benefit HomeFront.
Books donated to the HomeFront book drive
One of our 4th grade students is working with the 6th grade Community Service club to collect gently used books for HomeFront. We collected lots of books already and will be collecting through the end of January.
Donated canned goods in our Library Display Case
Our 6th grade Community Service club is also working on our 5th Annual Souper Bowl of Caring. Students are bringing in canned goods to benefit HomeFront. We will be collecting until February 1, and the donated items will be delivered on Super Bowl weekend.
